And the winnah is: Krista! Thanks to all of you who entered the Bunny Basket Contest by commenting on the blog. I took all the entries' email addresses, pasted them into a Word document, printed it out, cut them up, put them in a bowl - and then had a family member close his eyes and pull one out. Krista will be receiving one of these cute baskets - Congratulations, Krista!
"Bad Taffy" is the strange little term that my husband and I use when we've been bad. Bad as in going shopping, using the credit cards, eating too much chocolate. That kind of bad. We picked up this saying about 22 years ago when he had an apartment on the third floor of a house. The people that owned the house (and lived on the first two floors) had a little dog that would bark and bark when either of the two tenants would creep up the stairs from the front door to go to their apartments. The owners would then yell at the dog, "Bad Taffy! Bad Taffy!" And it stuck.
It seems like every year I read an article in the paper about how to combat dry skin in the winter. I could pretty much write it myself - "take shorter showers" - "don't take hot showers" - and my favorite - "use a mild soap" and then "pat on lotion while you are still wet". Trouble is, I don't think the general public knows what a "mild soap" is - I know I never did. (See my post here about what true soap is. ) I never follow these directions. And my skin is in better shape now than it was 9 years ago.
I take long hot showers every day. I also take long hot baths almost every night. (I live in Iowa and I need to get warm!) I don't pat lotion on after I'm done. The newspaper articles do come to mind when I'm steaming myself. But I use a great soap and that makes up for all of my badness! So now you know why I'm a Bad Taffy.
