I don't know about you, but I'm tired of hearing all the negativity in the press. Yes, the financial markets are having a very rough time, unemployment is higher, there is plenty of bad news out there. But as I drive around my city, I do see crowded parking lots, both at restaurants and shopping malls. Soapourri is having its best year ever. There is still a lot to be thankful for.
Yesterday, I had a brainstorm and decided to make a Good News Soap. It will be a super duper price. Last night I made a whole bunch.
So for a few minutes, let's think of ONLY GOOD NEWS! Please post - I'm dying to hear it!
Let me rephrase that - do you know what a spam folder is and do you know how to check it? I used to live in blissful ignorance about my spam. Now I have a pretty aggressive filter and I learn to check it FREQUENTLY. 'Cause a lot of good stuff ends up in there. And I'm just saying - check yours because there might be something from ME in there! For some reason, I must have SPAM instead of SOAP written on my forehead. Wah.
A couple of weeks ago, my better half and I went up to Minneapolis to celebrate our anniversary. We decided, with some trepidation, to take a Segway tour. We are glad we did - it was such a blast! It was a beautiful morning and the 3 hour tour took us around and over the Mississippi River, along with about 50 other people. At first it is pretty scary, but you quickly get the hang of it and after awhile, you just want to go faster! Here is the link to the tour group that we used. Everyone should try this at least once, although now that we have, I want a Segway for myself! If you live in the Twin Cities or are planning to visit and would like our wrist bands, drop me a line and I'll mail it to you - you get $10 off your tour for each one.
It's apron day! Not only did the Des Moines Register have an article about the popularity of aprons today, but one of my favorite bloggers, Carrie Sommers, is giving away an apron at The Apronista - check it out, they are very cool. I hope I win - or maybe you will!
I discovered a new blog today - Overheard in New York. I think it appeals to me because I am an inveterate eavesdropper - ask my husband, it drives him crazy. Aren't we all curious about how other people think and what they say?
School started yesterday. The guy on the radio summed it up perfectly - half of you has this feeling of - sigh. yay. relief. The other half says - wah. my babies are leaving me.
Yesterday my younger son started high school. The boys are at the same school now - yay. My baby isn't a baby anymore. And my older son is an upperclassman, which is probably even more of a shock. The dog misses them - and so do I.
